The film group of Epstein, Levinsohn, Bondine, Hurwits and Weinstein, LLP is a state-of-the-art practice, providing individual, production, corporate, and sales services to writers, directors, individual producers, film production companies, distributers, and financiers. Our film group consists of two senior partners, Susan Bodine and Andrew Hurwitz, as well as junior partners, associates, paralegals and of counsel. Our clients include both prominent and up and coming writers and writer/directors, in addition to rights holder and a select number of actors.
Our film group represents established talent and companies, as well as young hopefuls, and is as experienced doing deals with the major studios as it is with independent production companies. Our clients are both domestic and international and we have often acted on behalf of foreign production companies that co-produce films with American companies. Our film group has consistently met and exceeded our client’s expectations in all facets of the industry.
Film financing, production, and distribution services make up a large part of our motion picture practice. We have closed numerous bank financings, structured and documented equity financing agreements, and obtained and negotiated term deals and slate financing for our production company clients. In addition to acting as production counsel for countless films, our film department often handles the sale of independently financed production.
In recent years, an important practice area that we have
developed is assisting our writer and director clients in producing their own
films. Throughout the process, we have worked with our clients and their agents
to raise and structure the financing for the production, in addition to putting
the actual production together.
